Privacy policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
This policy explains what Me Patrick Jacques does with the information you send through immigratingcanada.com.
Who is responsible
Me Patrick Jacques, lawyer, is responsible for protecting the personal information this site collects. For any question, or to exercise your rights, write to him at info@pjavocat.com with "Personal information" in the subject line.
What the site collects, and why
The site collects only what you enter in its two forms.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message, so he can reply.
- Free evaluation: your name, email address, phone number, countries of citizenship and residence, age, gender, marital status, French and English skills, education, work experience, net worth, family ties in Canada and past visa applications. This information is used to assess your eligibility for immigration programs and to reply to you.
The evaluation also asks two optional questions, about health and about criminal records, which can concern you, your spouse or common-law partner, and your dependent children. This is sensitive information: it is used only to assess your immigration file. Answer for another person only if they agree.
Your information is used for nothing else. It is never sold or used for advertising.
Your consent
By ticking the box under the form, you consent to this use. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to info@pjavocat.com. Me Jacques then stops using your information and destroys it, unless the law requires him to keep it.
Who sees it
The form sends your answers by email to Me Jacques; the site keeps no copy. Only Me Jacques and, when needed, his office staff read them. Me Jacques is bound by professional secrecy.
Three service providers handle the sending and receiving:
- ICONA, the web agency that hosts and maintains the site, on a server in Canada;
- Mailgun Technologies, Inc., which delivers the form’s emails;
- Microsoft, whose Microsoft 365 service hosts Me Jacques’ mailbox.
Mailgun and Microsoft are United States companies. Your information may therefore be processed outside Quebec and Canada.
How long it is kept
If your request does not lead to Me Jacques representing you, he deletes your information within 12 months of your last exchange. If you retain him, it goes into your client file and is kept under the rules that apply to lawyers’ files.
Browsing the site
This site uses no cookies, no audience measurement and no advertising. It loads no content from other sites and uses no technology that can identify you, locate you or profile you. Your browser may keep one technical item used to display the pages; it does not identify you and never leaves your device.
Like any web server, the site’s server records the IP address, page requested, date and browser of each visit. These logs are used only for the site’s security and are deleted after 30 days.
Links to pjavocatcriminel.com lead to Me Jacques’ criminal law practice, a separate site with its own practices, including audience measurement.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information Me Jacques holds about you or get a copy of it, have it corrected, or withdraw your consent. Write to info@pjavocat.com; Me Jacques replies within 30 days.
If his reply does not satisfy you, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with its update date.
