Express Entry in Canadian Immigration

Express Entry is a Canadian federal immigration system that was introduced in January 2015 to facilitate economic immigration of skilled workers to the country. Since then, Express Entry has become the primary economic immigration pathway for skilled workers looking to settle in Canada.

The Express Entry system is designed to manage immigration applications for skilled workers, including skilled tradespeople, professionals, and managers. Applicants must first create an online profile detailing their skills, education, work experience, and language proficiency in French and/or English.

How Express Entry Works

The Express Entry system uses a points-based system to assess the profiles of applicants. Points are awarded based on various criteria, including age, education, work experience, proficiency in French and English, and possession of a valid job offer. Applicants then receive an overall score based on their profile.

Applicants with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry program. Invitations to apply are issued during draws that occur approximately every two weeks. Applicants then have 60 days to submit their complete application for permanent residence.

Benefits of Express Entry for Applicants

The Express Entry system offers many benefits to applicants, including fast processing times, clear eligibility criteria, and transparency in the selection process. Applicants can also track the status of their application online.

Furthermore, applicants who are invited to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry program may benefit from priority processing and a faster decision than applicants who apply for permanent residence outside of the Express Entry system.

Finally, it should be noted that Express Entry is just one of many economic immigration programs available in Canada. Applicants may also be eligible for other programs, such as the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program, and the Quebec Experience Program.
